Has it been decided yet what the future is for Suci, the young Sumatran rhino female at Cincinnati Zoo?
What age is she likely to be ready to breed? And will she stay at Cincinnati or move elsewhere, like Andalas did?

I hope she can stay at the zoo with a new male imported for her, the zoo is doing a great job with their breeding program and breaking new ground with it, this will prove they can be captive bred under the right conditions and with the right animals

I agree, Dr Roth and her great team at Cincinnati Zoo have done the most brilliant work in cracking the code in getting the sumatran rhinos to breed.
Honestly- 3 calves in six years is a fantastic results, by any standards.
I think their work is additionally very important in creating interest and passion about this most endengered mammalian species on earth.
I personally think that the rhinocam was a great tool to do so.
I hear the work is on to get it up and running again, it has been down since early this spring.
Hope it all goes well and quikly.

I believe they will need a new male for Suci if she stays at Cincinnati permanently. It will be difficult to get one particularly the right sort of age..(mature) They could mate her with her father Ipuh as a first resort though?
As Ipuh is older than both females, they may need a new mal
