We have a 21 year old female E. black rhino who has a hormone assey confirmed pregnancy. She was beginning to bag in mid-April and has since seemed to shrink in her udder size. If you were talking about a cow, she appears to be "drawn down" and we'd suspect another calf to have suckled from her, although she has been isolated for 6 months. She is eating grain and produce but little fodder and acting more subdued than usual. This is her seventh pregnancy, the last of which resulted in a late-term miscarriage and we had to pull the still born calf. If there is any information on loosing milk production I would be greatly interested and endebted. OR-- Has anyone ever heard of a pseudo-pregnancy in rhinos? |
