hey, we are getting ready to ship out a female rhino calf in about 5 months. she will be right at 2. we are debating seperation training before hand or just training mom while we crate train her? suggetions? also, we haven't started seperation training and she seems pretty close to mom. they still eat right next to each other and we seperated them once for like 3 seconds and both freaked out. The 2 previous calves tend to be very jumpy and keeper dependent and i don't know if that is because of incorrect seperation techniques. That was done before i was a keeper and i just want to make sure we do it right. The calf is very laid back now and i am hoping to keep it that way. if anyone has ANY ideas, PLZ email me! alicia.wedel@park.edu. Thx. |
