Hi

I work with black and white rhino in Australia and just wondering if anyone knows much anout rhino teeth>

I have found a few broken half teeth around over the years and wondering if anyone knows do they have baby teeth which fall out at a certin age and have new ones that come through? Or do they have ones that are numerous sets that are waiting to come through when others fall out?

If anyone can shed some light on the subject that would be fantastic and much appreciated biggrin.gif

I haven't gained a definitive answer from any expert but we have teeth from White Rhino (whole) and have been told both that;
a) they have baby teeth and shed them
cool.gif that teeth move forward and are progressively shed.

Id be interested in hearing from anyone with more expertise

Hello, I have read that with white rhino Premolars 2, 3 and 4 begin to erupt at three years (we usually find parts or whole teeth in pens while cleaning at this age with our calves) and are full 'in wear' by 8yrs. The first premolar doesn't change.
