In Memoriam: Sandy Rookmaaker (1947 – 2016)
It is with deep sadness that we have learned of the passing of Sandy Rookmaaker on the 17th September 2016. Sandy left behind her three children, seven grandchildren and loving husband Kees Rookmaaker, the director and chief editor of the RRC.
Sandy and Kees have travelled together to many countries and lived in South Africa, England and Singapore. Early this year they moved to the south of Spain, where they planned to retire and enjoy the Spanish surroundings and climate.
Sandy was always a positive and joyful person. She was very warmhearted and caring to whomever they encountered along their path. She enjoyed cooking, also for the many guests who visited them, and was a very generous person.
Sandy has been a most valuable companion to Kees, as well a great support to the RRC. Throughout the years she has contributed a lot to the website by assisting Kees, with patiently scanning thousands of articles and uploading these to the website. The RRC team and all those benefiting from the websites content are very grateful for that.
Sandy passed away peacefully after a short illness at the age of 69.
We wish Kees, the family and friends all the strength to deal with this loss. Sandy will be missed!
